Meet our club’s employees

It’s always nice to recognize the folks that work for us in making our club a pleasure to visit.  So starting with this issue and moving forward there will be a new face recognized in each issue for what they do for us.  Starting off with our bartenders.  Karen Tibbetts

Karen started working weekends on the day shift part time in 2007.  In 2018 she became full time day steward M-F, currently doing the ordering, booking the hall rentals and the pull-tab bookwork. She has made a lot of friends and co-workers now and misses the ones that are gone.  “Great place to come and mingle with friends and enjoy a beverage.”   Say Hello to Karen when visiting and let her know what a great job she is doing.

Pool

After a busy summer of pool tournaments the Sunday and Friday leagues are back in full stroke.

Sunday league encourages players who are new to the game to join seasoned mentors to learn as they play for fun and competition.  This league starts at 12. This is an individual league with three different divisions,  Skilled, intermediate, and novice. It cost $5 a week to play. We play 8 ball for four weeks and the fifth week we play a 9 ball tournament. Any questions ask Dorie Oakes.

Tuesday league has five teams. It starts at 6 pm. November 14th is the last week to join the league. This league goes 30 weeks. Any questions, ask Howie Jones.

The Top Ten challenge has reached its end of season. Sam Flagg came out on top for this year. The new list is listed in the pool room challenge someone today.  Any questions can be referred to Brandon Burgess.

Tournaments are held on Fridays at 6:30pm and the Mini top ten tournament is held on Sundays at 4 :30 pm. Entry is $10. If you are wanting to play but are running late contact Dorie Oakes to be on the list.

 Murder-Mystery Night

Back when Dennis Arsenault was with us, Dennis and I used to talk about new ideas about different types of entertainment we could do at the club. In his memory I would like to try one of those ideas by having an evening dinner with a Murder Mystery.  We are looking to do a trial run to see interest and look to see if maybe this could work as a fund raiser with audience participation. We have a Murder-Mystery script, “Murder on a train”.  In the coldest month of 1933, somewhere near the Austrian border, passengers aboard the Simpleton-Orient Express experience a murder that will change their lives forever! But who killed mysterious stranger John Doe?

Due to the weather the Jan 7 meeting was rescheduled for Sunday January 14 at 2 pm.  I would like to see everyone looking to be involved in this event to either attend this meeting or touch base with me within the next week to go over roles and answer any questions that may come up.  I have handouts that explains the roles, costumes and how the game works. We still have a few roles to fill and set a date for the event. As of now we are looking at Sunday February 18 in the Function Hall and will finalize within the next week. As for the meal we are doing pot luck or $5 donation. We are looking for an audience to see if we can involve them in figuring out who done it and vote on the cast for Best Costume, Best Acting, Best Detective and Best Ad-Libs.

If interested but cannot make the meeting, you can still get involved by contacting myself, Fred Allen at the club,  by email: RumfordAerie1248@gmail.com   or by cell 207-418-4463 or  contact Paula Chase at the club

We have a great club and want to keep it that way

Each one of us has some skill that we can give back to the club.  When in the building, take a look around and make note of areas that could use work and where you might be able to help us out. We are always in need for folks to help in the kitchen and clean up after events. We need people who are interested in being on our committees to plan events.  If you are interested in getting involved and would like to help us out, join us on meeting nights and we can talk about it.

Why you should go to a Club Meeting

The Aerie is now holding their meeting at 6:30 and the Auxiliary holding their meeting at 7:00 pm. Membership bi-monthly meetings being held with the Auxiliary having the first and third Wednesdays and the Aerie holding its meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays. The fourth Wednesday is new member initiation night and as an added incentive to attend the meeting a light meal is prepared for the new members and meeting attendees.  Also 50/50 and $50 gift card drawing each Aerie meeting. This Club belongs to its members and this is the forum where members can get to know the inner workings of the club and have a voice on concerns.  All our expenses are brought up on the floor and need to be approved by the membership for purchase or services.  Steps to becoming a new member need to be voted on by the membership along with reports from the Committees, Trustees, Treasurer & Secretary that all need to be OKed. Hope to see you there.
